| Quest Guide |
This quest has a unique and very painful requirement, “don’t fall down”. If you or any of your group falls down (or gets knocked off) the main path, the quest fails and everyone will be warped out shortly after. It’s very important to move slowly when close to anything that resembles a ledge. Featherfall is a very useful spell in this particular quest.
I always like to do the hard stuff first just to make sure that if I fail it, I haven’t wasted too much time doing all the easy-to-complete objectives first. This will be no different as we’ll be moving towards the North where you’ll see be moving across an archway with air blowing on it. I suggest you go slow and get the air to start blowing before you start moving across the archway. Once the air is blowing you should be able to get your timing down and then you’ll be moving behind each rock obstruction just after each blow of wind. It should be pretty self-explanitory.
You’ll then find a small corner road of houses and NPC’s that do not talk. You’ll even find a Ressurection shrine (but no Rest Shrine). You’ll also see a ladder in the distance, put on that Deathward and be careful because as you approach the ladder you’ll be confronted with a CR14 Beholder that will spawn nearby. Kill the Beholder move up the sets of ladders until you come to a place where you’ll find 5 Arcane Oozes (they hurt) who are immune to the majority of spells your spellcasters can cast. Kill all the Oozes and climb the nearby ladder.
This could arguably be the trickiest part in the quest. You’ll see another bridge with three air currents that you will not be able to stand in between as you move across (not confirmed). You’ll also notice that if you fall properly you may be able to make your way back up to the bridge without failing the quest. You’ll want to cast haste or some form of it to quickly move past the air currents and get to the other side where you’ll have to kill a quick Beholder and open a chest to reveal the first item required for quest completion.
From the chest you don’t need to go back across the bridge you can just drop down on top of the NPC (ahh clever level design eh?). Hand in your item so if your group wipes your quest progress will be saved.
Continue across the other archway near the air current archway fighting the vermin that pop up. Move up the ladder when it is available. To be quite honest at this point I completely forget what came next but that basically means it wasn’t challenging enough to commit to memory. I’ll add it in a future update to this walkthrough.
After clearing the 2nd archway you’ll want to turn your latest item into the NPC and walk to the Western portion of the map (the direction in which the main NPC is facing as she sits at the entrance). When taking this walkway you’ll be able to go to a walkway to the West that leads to a medium sized open area that will spawn a Beholder. Kill the Beholder and get the item out of the chest for your third item of completion.
Get back on the path and move till you enter the Labyrinth. You’ll want to follow the left wall and let the rogue grab all the traps he finds. As you follow the wall you’ll eventually find a chest or two and disable around 5 traps. Remember, just because you search for a trap doesn’t mean its in the hallway you are currently in, many of the traps will appear in the hallway next to you that you may not yet have access to.
After you follow the wall enough you’ll come to a large open room with a Fire Giant who you will talk to and then fight. This Giant basically screams “I am going to knock you off and you will fail your quest”. On that note I would advise for the use of Web and keep the melee’s tumbling rather the blocking. Upon beating him you’ll have a small room behind him to deal with about a dozen annoying mephitis. Upon their death you may loot the chest and obtain the final item for completion.
Leave the small room and the dead giant and you’ll find you can get on top of the Labyrinth. You’ll also see you can easily Feather Fall down to the NPC once again. Do so and buff up for a hard fight.
When you turn the items into the NPC you’ll be fighting the NPC herself and she is a rough lil drow that casts plenty of spells and has a high spell resistance. She hits hard and has a numerous amount of spells at her disposal. Kill her as quickly as possible and don’t let her get too many spells off. Upon her death the quest will finalize.
