Rogue:
Shifty and beady eyed. Hidey, sneaky you pick. Jack of all trades, master of none.
The rogue has the most skills of any character in the game. The main focus areas of the rouge are 3 points: intellect, dexterity, and charisma. The intelligent rogue is highly skilled, and can "do it all". The dexterous rogue is a master of blades and bows. Using the weapon finesse feat this rogue challenges even the strongest fighter for dueling rights. Finally the charismatic rogue, the ability to win a crowd in hostile situations, or convince the enemy to give up before fighting is a powerful thing indeed.
For each they really are very unique. Humans and halfings make excellent rogues.
-=minmax=-
Human IntRogue: because of the human skill bonus, you can really tank out the abilities here. This makes for a lot of fun, because there is no trap you cannot disarm, no door you cannot find, and no wand you cannot use.
Elf DexRogue: this is probably one of the hardest rogues to play. Move like a fighter, quiet as a... rogue! The backstab ability is your greatest asset, and makes you think twice about ever using a fighter again. The benefit of being elf or dwarf (not recommended) here is that you can "spot" secret doors and traps, before they actually appear... 6th sense if you will. "I see dead people"
Halfling ChaRogue: I like to use the halfing for this class simply because they are short. However any race will work for this with the exception of the dwarf and warforged. They suffer penalties to charisma... and it’s just stupid to try to avert that without some "higher" ideas in mind. This is a very unique class, not suited for DDO, but a lot of fun for pnp version of D&D. To make this class work. for feats, take negotiator, and take your diplomacy and haggle skills.
Good feats:
All:
Luck of heroes
Weapon finesse
intRogue:
Any skill focus area feats.
dexRogue:
Weapon finesse is a must, along side 2 weapon fighting. at level 1 you have to choose weapon finesse (2 weapon fighting requires a +1 base attack which you can get at level 2) and on level 3 take 2wf as your feat.
chaRogue:
Negotiator, skill focus: bluff, skill focus: haggle, skill focus: diplomacy, skill focus: intimidate
I like negotiator the best personally, but all are good
