Some quests will start you on a series of quests which can sometimes lead to an exciting boss battle or some interesting lore. Some of the more common quest series are:
The Waterworks
The Catacombs
The Steam Tunnels
Splinterskull Goblins
Grey Moon Waning
Completing of a series of quests can yield an awesome rewards from the NPC and often a large bit portion of xp for each quest within that series.
